Conjugated Peptide
Anti-beta-gal antibody was prepared from chicken egg fractions produced by repeated immunizations with a 17 amino acid synthetic peptide from near the N-terminus of E. coli beta-gal.
Anti-beta-Galactosidase Antibody is an IgY fraction that has been affinity purified by immunoaffinity purification. Cross reactivity with beta-Galactosidase from other sources has not been determined.
Application Details
ELISA, WB
Anti-beta-Galactosidase Antibody has been tested for use in ELISA and Western Blotting. Specific conditions for reactivity should be optimized by the end user. Expect a band at approximately 116 kDa in Western Blots of specific cell lysates and tissues.

Beta-galactosidase (beta-gal), an inducible enzyme that catalyzes the hydrolysis of lactose and other beta-galactosidases into monosaccharides, is a product of the LacZ operon, and is a homo-tetrameric protein consisting of four identical subunits of approximately 114 kDa each. The enzyme is commonly used as a reporter gene in molecular biology to assess the efficiency of transfection.
