NPP (p-Nitrophenyl phosphate) is a colorimetric substrate for alkaline phosphatase (AP) in ELISA, producing a yellow product that is measurable at 405 nm. It is chosen for its suitability in applications requiring a quantitative readout of enzyme activity.
