Conjugated Peptide
Anti-SPATA18 antibody was prepared from chicken egg fractions produced by repeated immunizations with a 19 amino acid synthetic peptide near the N-terminus of human SPATA18.
Anti-SPATA18 Antibody is an IgY fraction that has been affinity purified by immunoaffinity purification. At least three isoforms of SPATA18 are known to exist; this antibody will detect the two longest isoforms. SPATA18 antibody is predicted to not cross-react with other SPATA family members.
Application Details
ELISA, WB
Anti-SPATA18 Antibody has been tested for use in ELISA and Western Blotting. Specific conditions for reactivity should be optimized by the end user. Expect a band at approximately 61 kDa in Western Blots of specific cell lysates and tissues.

SPATA18, also known as SPETEX-1, was initially identified as a cytoplasmic protein of elongate spermatids that is thought to be involved in differentiation process of elongate spermatids to mature spermatozoa. Recent experiments have shown that SPATA18 is a transcriptional target of p53 and p63. It has also been suggested to play a role in mitochondria quality control by inducing intramitochondrial lysosome-like organella that eliminate oxidized mitochondrial proteins.
