Pyruvate Kinase (Rabbit Muscle)
Anti-Pyruvate Kinase (Rabbit Muscle) Antibody is an IgG fraction antibody purified from monospecific antiserum by a multi-step process which includes delipidation, salt fractionation and ion exchange chromatography followed by extensive dialysis against the buffer stated above.  Assay by immunoelectrophoresis resulted in a single precipitin arc against anti-Goat Serum as well as purified and partially purified Pyruvate Kinase (Rabbit Muscle). Anti-Pyruvate Kinase (Rabbit Muscle) Antibody has been reported to react with all forms of pyruvate kinase (pan M-PK).  Cross-reactivity against pyruvate kinase from other mammalian tissues is expected but has not been specifically determined.

Pyruvate Kinase is an enzyme involved in the glycolytic process that transfers a phosphate group from phosphoenolpyruvate onto ADP, yielding energy in the form of ATP and a pyruvate molecule. The isoforms of pyruvate kinase are of special interest in biology. Normal tissues utilize the m1 isoform of pyruvate kinase which creates and transports pyruvate to create ATP within the cells mitochondria. However, the m2 isoform of pyruvate kinase is prevalent in tumors, causing lower levels of pyruvate production. Study of the two isoforms and their relative activity and expression is becoming integral to understanding tumor proliferation, especially glioblastomas. Anti-Pyruvate Kinase (Rabbit Muscle) Antibody is ideal for investigators in Cancer, Cell Biology, and Neuroscience.
