Anti-Phospho-Ser1166 NMDA Receptor NR2B Subunit Antibody was produced in rabbits by repeated immunizations with a synthetic phospho-peptide corresponding to amino acid residues surrounding Ser1166 of rat NMDA Receptor NR2B Subunit conjugated to KLH.
Anti-Phospho-Ser1166 NMDA Receptor NR2B Subunit Antibody is directed against NMDA protein phosphorylated at S1166. The antibody was prepared from monospecific antiserum by immunoaffinity chromatography using phospho peptide coupled to agarose beads followed by solid phase adsorption(s) against non-phospho peptide and non-specific peptide to remove any unwanted reactivities. Assay by immunoelectrophoresis resulted in a single precipitin arc against anti-Rabbit Serum. This antibody is specific for phosphorylated NMDA. Minimal reactivity occurs against non-phosphorylated NMDA. Reactivity against NMDA occurs from rat sources. However, reactivity is also expected against canine, human, non-human primate, and Xenopus based on 100% sequence homology.
Application Details
WB
Anti-Phospho-Ser1166 NMDA Receptor NR2B Subunit Antibody is tested for Western Blots and is specific for the ~180 kDa NMDAR NR2B subunit phosphorylated at Ser1166. Immunolabeling of the NMDA NR2B subunit band is blocked by the phosphopeptide used as the antigen but not by the corresponding dephosphopeptide. Specific conditions for reactivity should be optimized by the end user.

The NMDA receptor (NMDAR) plays an essential role in memory, neuronal development and it has also been implicated in several disorders of the central nervous system including Alzheimer’s, epilepsy and ischemic neuronal cell death. Overexpression of the NR2B-subunit of the NMDA Receptor has been associated with increases in learning and memory while aged, memory impaired animals have deficiencies in NR2B expression. Phosphorylation of Ser1166 is thought to play an essential role in memory and neuronal development. NMDA pS1166 Receptor NR2B Subunit Antibody is ideal for researchers interested in neuroscience research.
