Anti-MAP1LC3 antibody was prepared from whole rabbit serum produced by repeated immunizations with a 12 amino acid peptide near the internal region of human MAP1LC3A.
Anti-MAP1LC3 antibody was affinity purified from monospecific antiserum by immunoaffinity chromatography. MAP1LC3 antibody is human, mouse and rat reactive. Multiple isoforms MAP1LC3 are known to exist. MAP1LC3 antibody is predicted to detect MAP1LC3A, MAP1LC3B, and MAP1LC3C.

Anti-MAP1LC3 Antibody has been tested for use in ELISA, Western Blotting, and Immunohistochemistry. Specific conditions for reactivity should be optimized by the end user. Expect a band at approximately 14 kDa in Western Blots of specific cell lysates and tissues.

Store vial at -20° C prior to opening. Aliquot contents and freeze at -20° C or below for extended storage. Avoid cycles of freezing and thawing. Centrifuge product if not completely clear after standing at room temperature. This product is stable for several weeks at 4° C as an undiluted liquid. Dilute only prior to immediate use.

Microtubule-associated proteins (MAPs) regulate microtubule stability and play critical roles in neuronal development and plasticity (1). MAP1LC3 is a subfamily of three related proteins belonging to the MAP1 LC3 family and it includes MAP1LC3A, MAP1LC3B, and MAP1LC3C (2). MAP1LC3 is the mammalian homolog of yeast ATG8 and is essential for autophagy and associated with the autophagosome membranes after processing (3). The three isoforms exhibit distinct expression patterns and both MAP1LC3A and MAP1LC3B but not MAP1LC3B, are post-translationally modified, suggesting the three isoforms may have different physiological functions (4).
