Human
Conjugated Peptide
Anti-Caspase-1 antibody was prepared from whole rabbit serum produced by repeated immunizations with a 16 amino acid synthetic peptide from near the C-terminus of human Caspase-1.
Anti-Caspase-1 Antibody was affinity purified from monospecific antiserum by immunoaffinity chromatography. Depending on cell lines or tissues used, other cleavage products may be observed.
Application Details
ELISA, IHC, WB
Anti-Caspase-1 Antibody has been tested for use in ELISA, Western Blotting, and Immunohistochemistry and is suitable in IF. Specific conditions for reactivity should be optimized by the end user. Expect a band at approximately 45 kDa in Western Blots of specific cell lysates and tissues.

Caspases are a family of cysteine proteases that can be divided into the apoptotic and inflammatory caspase subfamilies. Unlike the apoptotic caspases, members of the inflammatory subfamily are generally not involved in cell death but are associated with the immune response to microbial pathogens. Members of this subfamily include caspase-1, -4, -5, and -12 and can activate proinflammatory cytokines such as IL-1b and IL-18. Caspase-1 was initially identified as an IL-1b-converting enzyme; later experiments revealed it to be a mammalian homolog of the C. elegans cell death gene ced-3 whose overexpression can induce apoptosis in fibroblasts.
