ATG8 Antibody was produced from whole rabbit serum prepared by repeated immunizations with at the n-terminus portion of human ATG8.
Anti-ATG8 Antibody was purified by Protein G chromatography. A BLAST analysis was used to suggest cross-reactivity with Anti-ATG8 from Opossum and rat based on 100% homology with the immunizing sequence. Cross-reactivity with Anti-ATG8 from other sources has not been determined.

Anti-ATG8 antibody detects human ATG8. MAP1A and MAP1B are microtubule-associated proteins made up of a heavy chain and multiple light chain components. One such light chain component associated with these proteins is ATG8. ATG8 (also called MAP1LC3A and APG8), an ~16KDa mammalian homolog of yeast Atg8, is a cytoplasmic protein that plays an essential role in the process and regulation of autophagy. ATG8 is an evolutionarily conserved protein that belongs to LC3 family. ATG8 interacts with various proteins in the cytoplasm including mammalian homologues of Atg4, Atg7, Atg3 and Atg12 and gets modified into LC3-I and LC3-II respectively. Both of these forms are suggested to be involved in the formation and intracellular trafficking of autophagosomes in mammalian cells. Anti-ATG8 antibody are ideal for investigators involved in apoptosis research.
